Most navigation is done using the links along the top RHS of the site. A huge thank-you to Waldemar Schlackow, without whose input this site would probably not have been possible.
The CUGMS website serves three main purposes.
The calendar. Check what exciting events are coming up and sign up to them. We rely on our members' participation to keep CUGMS fun and interesting — you can help out by running events or setting up new ones. There’s more info on the Social, Academic and Part III event pages.
The forums. The more these are used and visited the more useful they will be. If you have a question you think a fellow CUGMS member might know the answer to, why not post it?
Useful info. Information on all sorts of aspects of undertaking a Cambridge graduate maths course, and life beyond it. If you can contribute to any of these pages to make them even more useful please let us know.
We want our website to be as easy to use and helpful as possible and so we always welcome feedback and constructive criticism. If you have a problem with the site, or you see that something isn't working as it should be, please contact the webmaster (you can also use email: cugms-webmaster@srcf.ucam.org). However, before getting in touch, please take a few moments to make sure that you have given as much detail as you can about the problem (“the site isn't working” is not sufficient!) and that you have explained what you were doing just before the problem occurred.
Having an account allows you to view events and post on forums. There are essentially three levels of account.
Cambridge maths department, graduate student or beyond — As well as being able to view and sign up to relevant events, you can also add new events to the calendar, and create event pages for them (see Add to the site). You can post on all the forums.
Cambridge maths alumni, graduate level course or beyond — You can view and sign up to relevant events and post on all the forums.
Everyone else (e.g. graduate maths student at another institution, Cambridge undergraduate) - You can view and sign up to relevant events and post on the public forums.
Finally: you can update your account information or change the way the site looks to you by going to My account → Edit. For example, you can add or remove various things down the RHS of the page. And remember to keep your email address current.
There is a page of tips for editors (not viewable by everyone). If you're adding or editing pages, please read this.
